Community Outreaches.
MARPI Clinic is dedicated to extending its healthcare services to Key Populations (KPs) through comprehensive community outreach programs. Utilizing the Peer Model, we empower community peers to mobilize their fellow KPs to access essential health services. This innovative approach ensures that our interventions are well-received and effectively integrated into the daily lives of the communities we serve, promoting trust and improving overall health outcomes.
Peer Model Approach
The Peer Model is a pivotal element of our community outreach strategy. In this model, we engage trusted individuals within the KP networks to encourage their peers to seek and utilize healthcare services. These community peers play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the clinic and the community. Their involvement ensures that our outreach efforts are grounded in the realities of the communities, enhancing the acceptance and effectiveness of our health initiatives.
HIV Testing and Counseling
Our outreach programs include comprehensive HIV testing and counseling services. We provide pre- and post-test counseling to ensure individuals understand their HIV status and receive appropriate guidance. Through these sessions, we educate them about the implications of their test results and offer support in taking the next steps. Additionally, we distribute over 18,000 HIV self-testing kits each quarter, allowing individuals to test themselves in the privacy and comfort of their homes. This approach empowers people to take control of their health while maintaining confidentiality.
Risk Reduction Counseling
Risk reduction counseling is a key component of our outreach efforts. We educate individuals on strategies to reduce the risk of HIV transmission, promoting safer sexual practices and informed decision-making. Through personalized counseling sessions, we address specific risk factors and provide practical advice on how to mitigate them. This proactive approach helps individuals adopt behaviors that reduce their vulnerability to HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Condom Distribution and Education
We distribute over 2 million condoms each year within communities and hotspots. This large-scale distribution is accompanied by educational sessions on proper condom use and sexual health. By providing both the tools and the knowledge, we empower individuals to engage in safer sexual practices. Our education initiatives also address myths and misconceptions about condom use, fostering a more informed and proactive community.
Tuberculosis (TB) Screening
Regular TB screening is an integral part of our outreach programs, particularly given the heightened risk of TB among KPs. Early identification and management of TB cases are crucial for preventing the spread of the disease and ensuring timely treatment. Through community-based screening efforts, we make TB testing accessible and encourage individuals to participate in regular health checks.
Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Services
PrEP services are a cornerstone of our HIV prevention strategy. We offer PrEP screening, initiation and refills, with over 5,000 KVPs receiving these services each quarter. By providing PrEP, we significantly reduce the risk of HIV transmission among high-risk populations. Our outreach efforts ensure that PrEP is accessible to those who need it most, and we provide ongoing support to encourage adherence to the regimen.
Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST)
For individuals who inject drugs, we provide opioid substitution therapy as part of our comprehensive care approach. This therapy is essential for reducing harm and supporting recovery. Identified patients are linked to appropriate OST services, where they receive the necessary treatment and support to manage their addiction. Our outreach efforts help connect these individuals to vital resources, promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing the risk of HIV transmission through shared needles.
Hepatitis B Screening
We conduct regular screenings for Hepatitis B to ensure early detection and management of the disease. By integrating Hepatitis B screening into our outreach programs, we address the broader health needs of our community members. Early diagnosis allows for timely treatment and prevents the progression of the disease, improving long-term health outcomes.
Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Screening
Our outreach efforts also include screening for instances of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). We provide support and referrals to individuals affected by SGBV, ensuring they receive the necessary care and assistance. Addressing SGBV is crucial for the overall well-being of our community, as it impacts both physical and mental health.
STI Screening
Regular screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is a vital component of our community outreach programs. Early detection and treatment of STIs are crucial for preventing further transmission and managing health effectively. Our outreach efforts make STI screening accessible to KPs, encouraging them to prioritize their sexual health.
Offer Lubricant Education
We provide lubricant education to promote safer sexual practices. This initiative is part of our broader strategy to reduce the risk of HIV and STI transmission. By educating individuals on the benefits of lubricant use and how to use them correctly, we enhance their ability to engage in safer sexual activities.
Through these comprehensive outreach programs, MARPI Clinic ensures that critical health services are accessible and utilized by those who need them most. Our peer model approach, combined with a wide range of health interventions, fosters a healthier and more informed community, ultimately reducing the spread of HIV and improving overall health outcomes.
