MARPI'S JOURNEY

Milestones in our development

The story below presents the major direction of MARPI's development without turning the website into a technical project history.

Community-centred beginnings

MARPI's work developed around the need for services that are welcoming, confidential and responsive to communities facing heightened HIV and health vulnerabilities.

Strengthening the Drop-in Centre model

The MARPI model expanded through a Centre of Excellence and Drop-in Centre approach, providing a platform for Key Population-friendly services, prevention, care and community engagement.

Expansion of community and facility linkages

MARPI strengthened peer-led outreach, referrals and linkages between communities and health facilities, supporting continuity between community prevention and clinical services.

Partnerships and systems strengthening

Collaboration with government, donors, technical partners and civil-society structures has supported MARPI's contribution to the wider HIV, TB, STI and sexual and reproductive health response.

Evidence, innovation and digital approaches

MARPI has continued to strengthen monitoring, evaluation, research, learning and innovation, including approaches that use technology to improve information, engagement and access to services.

The journey continues.

MARPI continues to adapt its programmes and partnerships as community needs, health priorities and the national HIV response evolve.
